Classes for ages 3 through High School meet Sunday mornings (Sept – May), beginning in the Worship Room at 9:15 am.
confirmation
Our confirmation ministry at Lord of the Hills Church is aimed at young people in 6th, 7th, & 8th grades, with the Rite of Confirmation occurring on Reformation Day (last Sunday in October) in the student’s 9th grade year. Since there are young people at various stages in their confirmation ministry, we can tailor the confirmation program for older youth so they can complete the program in one year.
Every Wednesday evening, from September to May, students participate in 16 learning events, 5 fellowship events, and 4 service events. There are no meetings during Lent (because of the mid-week Lenten worship), but the confirmation students are expected to attend worship.
Participants in the confirmation ministry at Lord of the Hills Church are expected to:
- Attend weekly confirmation meetings
- Regularly attend worship and take sermon notes
- Volunteer as an acolyte, crucifer, and nursery helper
- Perform community service (which we do as a group on Wednesday evenings)
- Attend confirmation camp during the summer (Rainbow Trail Camp)

- Academic: Solid biblical and Christian content where students learn the basics of Christianity using the outline of Martin Luther’s Small Catechism: Apostles’ Creed, Ten Commandments, Lord’s Prayer, Baptism, and Holy Communion.
- Relational: Students participate in small groups (five to six kids plus one adult) during the learning event to discuss how the confirmation topic relates to them. Also, in the service projects and the fellowship events, friendships are formed and other caring Christian adults are known (the confirmation guides).
- Spiritual: Opening worship and prayer is an ongoing part of confirmation ministry where students learn to pray. Regular worship attendance is expected.
- Applied: Students serve the church and the community through service projects throughout the year.
