worship
Our worship is formed by the Great Tradition of the church, a kind of drama or liturgy (literally, “the work of the people”). The music in our worship is both old and new, changing with the different seasons of the church year. Holy Communion is offered at all three worship services:
Lord of the Hills Church is a “children-friendly” congregation: your children are welcome in worship! We also have seating space behind the glass doors for families with young children, and a nursery during the Sunday morning worship services and most of the other festival services (staffed by a child-care profession).
volunteers
We encourage members of the congregation to participate in every worship service. The following positions are available at every service.
- Altar: Readys the altar for worship and prepares for communion (fill cups with grape juice and chalices with wine) – takes about 15 minutes before worship and 10 minutes after service.
- Assistant Minister: Reads prayers and aids the Pastor in the distribution of communion.
- Communion Assistant: Helps the Pastor and Assisting Minister during communion by pouring the wine into the communicant’s cup.
- Communion Bread: Provides purchased or homemade bread for communion.
- Cup Washer: Washes the communion cups after each service.
- Greeter: Stands near the entrance and welcomes each worshiper who enters the building.
- Reader: Reads the First and Second Lessons during the service.
- Usher: Hands out the bulletins, passes the offering baskets, and escorts worshipers to communion.
