Show and Tell

It takes me right back to elementary school. I remember how excited I would be when it was my turn for a show and tell. This summer we are inviting people during worship to participate in show and tell during worship. Do you want a turn?

It's arranged ahead of time (click on the link above to send an email to sign up)to allow enough time for sharing about a hobby, interest or passion. This aligns with the focus this summer to deepen our relationship with God, our ourself and one another. During one of our Zoom Lectio Divina Bible studies that the inspiration for a summer of show and tell was born.

There's something that happens when we reveal a little bit more about ourselves as a way to connect with one another. The photo at the top was shared at last Sunday's Show and Tell. I had never seen a photo of a Cedar Waxwing. It was taken in her backyard. The person who shared her beautiful photos has a great eye for spotting birds and patience in taking photos. She stepped outside of her comfort zone to share those photos with us and gave me permission to share the photo above in this post. She shared the beauty of God's creation. We got to know a little more about her and about birds. Together we could give God thanks for the amazing gift of God's creation.

From sharing bird photos to tools, from poems to quilts and family photos-- we have already had opportunities to get to learn a little bit more about one another. What would you share in a Show and Tell? I invite you to consider this question whether or not you would ever get up in front of people to share it as it may provide fuel for self-reflection and a window into how you experience God. Each of us has something to share.

This coming Sunday August 26, 2026 in worship at 8am and 10am three of us will be sharing about our experiences as the Rocky Mountain Synod assembly. We got to hear about calling and vocation. On Sunday mornings at 9am we are exploring who we are as a congregation of the ELCA. You are invited to join in these Sunday morning conversations that will continue through Sunday August 23.

When we learn together, ask questions, share about ourselves and our experiences we are each participating in a “show and tell” of how each of us is created in God’s image.
